Ah, Coventry is a bit far for me - I only just made it as far as Fulham for that CS-Go tourney. And even then it was only for the final. Insomnia looks fun, although I think I'd be a bit too embarrassed to take my PC  Razz

Too far from London? Smile I'm heading up from Portsmouth - but we are going for the 3 days I suppose.

Well that was a fantastic weekend at Insomnia.  Two days was enough (although we had a three day ticket).

We went into the 24x7 gaming halls, there's some serious kit down there. Some of the watercooled towers were around £10,000 - eek!

Best of all was the Indie tent where up and coming developers show their wares.  Two games I bought on Steam and can recommend (although they are only local multiplayers and not online yet - I told them they need to get them online to make the money):

Gang Beasts

Nature's Zombie Apocalypse

Great games and attracted all the crowds.

Also bought Mortal Kombat X as some of the death scenes are awesome!

Finally, coloured keyboards are all the new rage (or maybe I'm miles behind).  So bought myself a G910 Logitech keyboard which I love!  Also a couple of wireless Logitech F710 controllers so when I got back to the hotel room of the evening I could play the new games on my laptop with my 10 year old lad.

My lad also got to have a photo with Joe Weller (I know, I had to google him too).  YouTubers are very famous out there and earn millions (I was born too early)

All in all, highly recommended, specially if you have kids from 7 or so up - they can take part in Fifa competitions or Minecraft games etc.  We'll be going again next year.

PS Met some midlife gamers as well who were doing the LAN stuff - I think they were a split away from the original GoGs about 8 years ago or so..

I just had a look at Nature's Zombie Apocalypse, looks great fun - reminds me of (but a lot better than) the first game I ever bought, Reloaded on the PSone.
And fancy not knowing who Joe Weller was! Still a great songwriter even after The Jam split up.

I thought Paul Weller was the Jam bloke...but I may be wrong.  I prefer Elvis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and a bit of Nat King Cole.

Back in the day, I used to play in a band which did the rounds of the Soho coffee bars, church halls, and working men's clubs. in west London...sometimes we had to put the guitars down and run as the beer bottles came flying over ... we didn't make it to Abbey Road.

...but we had groupys......

Cool    Very Happy
