Well, I miss enjoying playing CS which at the moment is no fun due to the FPS and lag type issues I still seem to be experiencing which is the main reason I haven't been on much this last few weeks or so. So in an effort to sort this cack out once and for all I'm going balls deep with the solution.

Just bought this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MZ-7TE250LW-250GB-Solid-State/dp/B00E391JP4/

which is a billy bargain price for an awesome SSD.
So this weekend I will be mostly nuking and rebuilding my machine, hopefully getting CS running again without any issues this time!

Which brings me to my tech question... Is everyone here already running with an SSD as their main O/S drive? Am I last to the SSD party or have some of you others who had/have issues also had them while running an SSD?

I'd heard this drive was quick but holy sheeeeet! Check out the benchmarks with RAPID enabled on this drive!

Looks a good buy that.

I been running SSD for a while now.  Not really had many issues until this week.

Firstly I cannot see people typed in conversations or see who is operating the mic.

Then after yesterdays update I get lag.

Not a happy bunny

I think Smoggy might have gone down the SSD route?

You're supposed to say "No issues at all here, tra la la everything is super cool!"

:D

This is about as drastic an action as I can take to try and resolve the problems so fingers are being crossed that by this time tomorrow night, I'm a happy chap again and whooping your asses as is the norm. Ahem.

If not, the neighbours may find my PC in their flowerbeds Sunday morning.

Sweeeet jeeeeeeeeeeebus, why did I wait so long to go SSD?!?!!?!?!

Had the thing fitted and Win 7 Ultimate on it and running in under an hour. Just downloading Windows updates now, transfer my 156Gb Steam folder to it and we're cooking. Might even get on tonight to whip y'all although the pub and a gig are calling...

If you don't already have an SSD. DO NOT FECKING HESITATE. GO TO AMAZON NAU!

Yep, SSD's are the canine's testicles.  No wucking furries for me.  Load time is cut down for windows and for most programs.  I actually moved my Steam folder off my SSD to a conventional hard drive as steam games dont really benefit from a SSD as they don't page much.   The only access to it is at the start of a game and on map change.  Get lots of memory for your PC, 8GB or 16GB assuming you installed the x64 bit version.

I thought your graphics card/graphics driver was the problem...getting a SSD won't solve that.

Anyway, good luck and good game!

@smoggy.  My CSGO always plays up after an update with low fps(teens!) and repeating sounds and lockups.  However, I abandon the game, send a CSGO dump to Valve and within a few hours it's fixed.  A lot of players with I5's and I7's have had problems with CSGO but, for me, at this time, a solution appears quite soon.  I believe it comes from restarting Steam frequently, rather that just restarting the game...and the magic update to my I7 appears.

Got 8Gb and 64bit O/S so all good there.
The issue is being solved hopefully by this rebuild. Getting an SSD is just a happy aside and wasn't in my mind as a solution to this FPS issue debacle. I just thought I might as well upgrade that bottleneck while I'm doing it : )
Glad I did. Tweaked my over clock too while I've been fecking around Very Happy

Sounds like you are building a beast!

TBH, I wouldn't o/c it yet.  I would run a bench mark without o/c and after a suitable burn in period, start o/cing gradually.

These days, it's difficult to destroy a processor/motherboard by overclocking.....aaah, not like in the old days.  I had lots of fun with redundant pc's seeing what I could get out of them.  Now, they've taken all the fun out of it.  No more treacle smell when it all goes pop...except for the occasional power supply..... :D

Similar thing here Porky.  Had my 3.3ghz i5 2500k factory ocd @ 4.7ghz with no issues for just over 2 yrs.

Could probably do with new gfx now tbh.  Other than that its tickety boo.
