So I bought some new ram for my machine and gave it a general clean. And now it will not boot/ no beep.

Tried all the basic things like butting old ram back and making sure things was in right slot but no joy.

So will be offline for a week or to it seems.

I think we need some more info!  We're experts at f*cking things up:

When you power on does the PSU fan spin?
Are there any lights coming on?
Do any other case / CPU fans spin up?
Any display output at all? (even the monitor coming out of standby)

That'll be a starter for 10.

Oh, and you have tried to turn it off and back on again ? Smile

Yes sorry lads for lack of info. Haven't tryed the battary, but yes all fans are running just doesn't start to boot at all. I will have a big route around the machine over the weekend. If I don't solve it I can take it to a free repair/advice group which is having its work shop on the 20th of Jan.
Really annoying as my new razor mouse just arrived today also so at the moment a lot of new tricks and toys for nothing.

Um, all fans are spinning so what's telling you it's not booting?  If you have a HDD rather than a SDD place a screwdriver on the HDD case and feel if it's spinning, if it is, does it feel like it's spinning up to boot (30-60 secs).

If you know what IP address it should be (or can tell from the router what IP address has been assigned) can you ping it from another machine after 5 mins of turning it on?

Could be the gfx card has failed, does the system have an onboard VGA connection? If so, plug it in there for now

Tryed a differnt gfx card and yes hard drive seems to be working. All 3 fans spinning including gfx card. It's not booting cos my pc doesn't beep ( to start the boot process/loading screen.

I am well and truly stumped.  Maybe I gave it a static charge or something grrrrrr..... Role on the 20th it seems Sad

So no screen output whatsoever? It does it get to the BIOS?
If that's the case maybe try clearing the CMOS (battery pull / button/jumper if you have one) and see if that lets you get back into the BIOS. Could be that something's just messed up somewhere.

If you're getting past the bios and it's just not loading, could be boot sector on the disk drive is knacked and needs repairing; You'd get an angry beep if there was no display or keyboard usually, so it might be reading your HDD but unable to make sense of what to do next, just hanging there, usually with a blinking underscore _

If it happened while turned off, I doubt your drive has suddently gone bad though, I'd try the CMOS thing - might be the RAM has confused the poor thing Sad

1. Check the 4 pin plug on the mother board which comes from the psu, was that disturbed when you added memory?     Just reseat it. Does the processor get warm after a while if it's left on?

2. Power it off.  Remove the wall plug.  Remove the bios battery.  Plug in the wall socket, switch it on...does it boot now?  Rejumper the bios to reset it (clear CMOS).   If not, can you try a different psu?

3. Use the VGA output on the motherboard if it has one?  Try a different monitor?  Does the monitor come out from sleep mode (orange light) when the pc is started?
