Well, it's quick, you have to register with your Microsoft account when you install it so I assume that's how they're going to look for potential subscriptions or whatever...

Oh my, not sure if this is Windows 10 - I do doubt it, but went to install CS:GO via steam and it's downloaded it completely in under 5 minutes. 14Mb/s download? I'm amazed.

Impressed so far MIkey?  Is it worth ditching 8.1 now?

No issues so far, much prefer it to 8.1 - go for it Smile

Hmmm, stay with Win7/8 until first service pack for Win10 is released.   ATM, I can't see any advantage in going to Win10 at this point in time other than a free upgrade in the first year.  I can't see any new tech on the horizon which makes the jump needed now.

HTC collaboration with Valve,  Steam Link , Steam Box with Steam OS...will run with Win7/8..not sure with Vista or WinXp.

Virtual reality(VR) is being pushed by some devs.  VR  seems a bit spooky, but some might like it....to me it's a bit like 3D movies...umm you need extra kit to enjoy it....

3D movies come and go, anyone remember House of Wax?  That dates me any comments ,please? Laughing

My humble advice...stay with Win7/Win8  and dump WinXP and Vista as soon as you can..   Ubuntu offers a supported version at a small cost....MAC upgrades are free.

Have fun. gl and gg.

I will stick with 8.1 until maybe a few weeks after the commercial free release.

I've been running this "Technical Preview" for a few months now and its looking good. To clarify the licensing issue, I have been talking to microsoft on this and although it is not yet confirmed it looks like windows 8.1 users will be upgraded to 10 free of charge via the windows app store, much like the 8 to 8.1 upgrade. These licenses will not be subscription based, Windows 7 users is where the grey area is right now and I have heard MS employees talking about a year for free.

However they look to be following the Apple model who give away OS licenses to private individuals. Microsoft make all their money on licensing to businesses and Joe public makes up a tiny % of their income. If I had to lay my money on it I would say that as of 2016 we will start to see free windows operating systems.

Quickly downgraded two of my laptops that were running evaluation copies of win 10 to hooky copies of win 7 pro that I knew would get the "upgrade to Win 10 for free" icon.  So, all's good for the free upgrade coming soon...

Woot!  hooky keys tut , tut!

It will be interesting to see if the little white Microsoft flag appears in the systrays for those laptops. If those keys were Enterprise keys, you'll have a long wait  Laughing .....d/l starts 29th July and then you've got a year to install it.  I'm going to wait until the first service pack is issued or a year whichever comes first.

Well, installed it on two laptops and all's fine after a couple of days of running.  If you want to take the jump and don't want to wait for that flag to tell you, then download here:
